Departmental Objective In support of Christopher Newport University’s mission, the mission of CNU Dining Services is toprovide CNU students with the highest quality in food and dining experiences.

In doing so, we arecommitted to providing fast and customer-friendly services and to provide clean and positive atmospheres throughout the Dining Services operations.

Purpose of the Position Under the direction of the dish room supervisor, assure that all functions necessary to keep serving area supplied with clean and sanitized china and service ware.

The candidate will operate in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards. Maintains area and equipment as directed.

Assures that proper procedures are followed to provide clean and sanitary service ware. Performs other duties as assigned to include but not limited to beverage re-stocking and cleaning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position

• Ability to follow directions both verbal and written to communicate effectively
• Ability to deal in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining positive relations with co-workers, faculty, staff and students
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to wear protective footwear
• Ability to work in congested work areas
• Ability to work all shifts, day, evening and weekends

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required Education :

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience :

Previous experience in a food service operation

Additional Consideration(s) Experience :

Previous experience as a dish washer in a high volume restaurant

• Role Code 79211 Salary Information Starting at $13.85 per hour, Commensurate with Education and Experience Conditions of Employment This is an HOURLY position and does NOT entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits and is limited to 1500 hours in a 365-day period;
• Selected candidate will be required to attend a 2-Day New Employee Orientation Program;
