JOB SUMMARY:

Assists in providing restorative therapy to assigned residents.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists staff in providing physical and/or occupational therapy treatment to residents/clients/patients in accordance with the care plan.

Assists in meal service.

Assists in activities.

Assists in resident care.

Completes required documentation in a timely manner.

Performs therapy screenings, including joint range of motion measurements, to assess resident/ client/patient’s progress.

Maintains communication with other disciplines, as appropriate, to facilitate quality resident/client/ patient care.

Instructs families and staff on various restorative and therapy procedures including range of motion exercises, transfers and positioning.

Attends staff meetings and inservice programs as required.

Performs resident/client/patient care in a compassionate manner in accordance with the mission and values of Holland Home.

Understands resident/client/patient rights and incorporates them into daily practices.

Supports and models by conduct the Holland Home Code of Conduct to residents/clients/patients, employees and public.

Meets Holland Home’s standards for confidentiality.

Utilizes the Positive Approach to Care™ methodology in accordance with the mission and values of Holland Home.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs a variety of administrative duties such as copying, filing, billing, computer data entry, etc.

Assists in maintaining therapy equipment and treatment areas.

Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The job requires knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent plus additional coursework in basic anatomy.

One to two years of related therapy or nursing aide experience is preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Ability to work with elderly residents/clients/patients who may at times be ill, disabled, confused, hostile and/or emotionally upset.

Ability to read, speak, write and understand the English language.

Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, residents/clients/ patients and families in situations requiring courtesy, tact, respect and patience.

Written skills necessary to maintain required documentation.

Ability to meet Holland Home’s standards for attendance.

Ability to meet the general health requirements as set forth by the policies of Holland Home, which includes a physical examination and TB testing.

MENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Pressures related to completing required documentation in a timely manner and dealing with the

concerns and emotional needs of residents/clients/patients and their families.

Ability to transfer/lift/turn/position residents/clients/patients, reach/stoop/bend/kneel/crouch, and utilize
the equipment and devices necessary in providing prescribed care.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal resident/client/patients care environment with minimal exposure to communicable diseases when using standard precaution methods.
