Position Overview:

We seek a dynamic and devoted Logic (Middle) and Rhetoric (High) School Choir Teacher to lead our choral program with excellence and vision. This is a part-time position. The ideal candidate will deeply appreciate classical music and Christian worship, guiding students in pursuing musical proficiency, spiritual growth, and a lifelong love for choral singing. As a member of our faculty, you will have the privilege of inspiring young musicians to discover their God-given gifts and express them in harmony with others for His glory.

Overview of Responsibilities: 

• Prepare and supervise Logic and Rhetoric Choirs for the following: Christmas Concert, TAPPS Solo & Ensemble, Spring Show/Musical or Concert, Community Events

• Hold regularly scheduled weekly choir rehearsals. The director should be prompt and well-prepared for rehearsals at all times.
• Develop appropriate repertoire for students by choosing quality and engaging musical selections
• Select and work with the Fine Arts Curriculum Lead to purchase music/props/supplies for the choirs as needed
• Work in advance with faculty and staff on scheduling of events
• Prepare students to lead worship in chapel
• Provide individualized instruction and feedback to students to support their musical growth, vocal development, and personal expression
• Serve as a mentor and role model, instilling values of discipline, perseverance, and humility in students as they strive for musical excellence and spiritual maturity

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Choral Conducting, or a related field
• Ability to read music and multiple parts at a time
• Piano Proficiency: Ability to accompany choirs and play voice parts on a piano
• Good communication skills and flexibility
• Effective planning and organizational skills
• Proficiency in teaching voice parts and directing a choir
• Advanced skills in researching and selecting appropriate music for students
• Superior aural skills
• Understanding of children’s development
• Serve as a mentor and role model, instilling values of discipline, perseverance, and humility in students as they strive for musical excellence and spiritual maturity
