Job Description

The Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading group and individual activities designed to meet the interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each participant; working closely with participants, adult day center staff and families/caregivers to support the participant, while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.

Activity Coordination Responsibilities

1. Coordinates activity program planning to include; developing monthly activities calendar, and individualized activity care planning.
2. Sets up and operates equipment, leads games, singing, discussions, and other programmed activities; conducts exercise activities and interacts with participants on an individualized basis.
3. Works with volunteers and students assigned to specific projects.
4. Participates in the development of and adherence to activities program budget.
5. Assures appropriate charting documentation of activity related forms and assessments
6. Assists with personal care of participants to include; toileting, changing soiled clothing, personal hygiene care as needed, monitoring food and fluid intake and other activities of daily living.
7. Personifies outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients and vendors by acting as a subject matter resource in a timely, considerate and friendly manner, always maintaining the “Golden Rule” approach; practices patience and kindness.

Volunteer Coordination

1. Recruits volunteers based upon the needs of the adult day center
2. Maintains current files on volunteers and tracks hours assuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.
3. Conducts interviews with volunteers to identify interests, training needs, and skills.
4. Ensures that newly enrolled volunteers receive required orientation, paying special attention to full and timely training specific to the volunteer’s assigned responsibilities.
5. Plans and implements volunteer recognition program/s.
6. Schedules and coordinates volunteer activity.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School diploma or GED

Required Experience: 2 years’ experience in a senior living setting

Preferred Experience: Older Adult programming experience
