Job Description:

Responsible for performing activities to ensure the safety and security of all personnel, students, guests, and facilities on campus and enforce University rules and regulations. Employees in this classification are required to maintain flexible work schedules in order to accommodate weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts. Overtime work may occur. Employees may experience hazardous or dangerous situations in the course of their work.
Responsibilities:

• Enforce policies of the University and applicable laws to include local, state and federal statutes.
• Prevent crimes and protect life and University property.
• Control traffic and parking requirements to include issuing parking citations and/or warnings.
• Perform routine patrols on foot, cart, bicycle, or in a vehicle to ensure the security of the campus community.
• Respond to emergency alarms and calls; make decisions based on analysis of situation and fact; take appropriate actions on calls and emergencies.
• Provide assistance to disabled students, deliver emergency messages, and respond to calls for medical assistance for individuals who have become ill or injured.
• Provide security to individuals at sporting and special events.
• Escort students or other members of the campus community to their residence halls, cars and/or classes, as needed.
• Prepare incident, accident, and other such reports with accuracy for detailed documentation.
• Assist motorists with flat tires, stalled vehicles, keys locked in cars, etc.
• Unlock doors for scheduled classes, meetings and rentals, and secure and re-lock areas.
• Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Requirements:

To be considered for the position, you must have:

• high school diploma or equivalent;
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• demonstrated ability to work in a team environment;
• ability to maintain confidentiality;
• ability to receive and understand oral and written instruction;
• valid driver's license;
• citizen of the United States;
• able to pass an extensive background check;
• no felony convictions.
