Christian Academy School System Position: Science Teacher 2024-2025 School Year Indiana High School Grades 9-12 Job DescriptionScope The Classroom Teacher will be the spiritual leader in the classroom by modeling prayer and love toward students in a Christ-like manner. He/she will effectively plan and execute lessons, with appropriate strategies, for student mastery of content. The teacher will recognize all students learn differently and will implement motivating and engaging learning strategies designed to meet the needs of all learners. This method of teaching will contribute to students’ development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God. He/she will also manage /monitor student learning in an encouraging classroom environment that allows for students to grow in depth of knowledge. The teacher will engage in professional development training and collaborative learning opportunities for growth in professional relationships and growth in his/her craft of teaching. Qualifications The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spiritA daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of schoolCommitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian AcademyAgreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind The ideal candidate shall possess the following:Bachelor’s degree requiredCurrent state teaching certificate/licenseHave completed at least 24 semester hours in subject taught for “major part of the day”Have completed at least 12 semester hours in subject taught for “less than major part of the day”Have completed at least 12 hours in professional education courseworkMeet certification guidelines required to obtain and maintain active ACSI teacher certification throughout employment Accountabilities/Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership:Intentionally integrates Biblical values and moralsUnderstands and implements the Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, peers and administration in an appropriate mannerAssess students' spiritual leads them in spiritual growthLeads students in daily prayer and devotionsModels a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ Instructional Planning & Preparation:Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy (the art and science of teaching)Designs lessons with clear, focused and measurable instructional objectivesObjectives provide for deliberate skill development in the high order thinking processesPlans include integration of technology to enhance/accelerate learning and mastery of content Instructional Delivery:Demonstrates Biblical integration and Christian worldviewEstablishes learning expectations with well-defined openingsGuides students to apply learning to real-world applicationsImplements a variety of strategies to introduce, explain and restate subject matter conceptsSelects a variety of instructional aids, methods and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child—spiritual, intellectual, physical, social and emotionalEmploys a variety of questioning techniques that enhances critical thinking Assessment:Intentionally plans pre-assessments, formative and summative assessments aligned to learning objectivesPlans provision for student feedback through self-assessmentRe-teaching – Identify students in need of additional or different forms of instruction and determines effective instructional modificationsUses assessment data to plan instruction Classroom Environment:Creates a learning environment promoting positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation; creates an environment of respect and rapport through reinforcement and praiseEncourages students to accept God and the gift of salvation and grow in their faithProvides opportunities for students to lead prayer and devotionsProvides opportunities for students to develop a Christian mind and lifestyleManages student behavior: implements classroom rules, routines and procedures that allow a student to assume his/her own responsibilityOrganizes physical space: attractive, well-ordered, conducive to learning and student work displayed Professionalism and Communication:Communicates in a positive, clear manner and uses accurate grammar and spelling in written formRepresents the school in a favorable and professional mannerMaintains timely and accurate student records/grades in RenWeb and submits weekly lesson plansCommunicates with families about students’ progress on a regular basis and responds to family/student concerns in a timely and appropriate mannerMaintains teachable spirit and assumes responsibility for actionsMaintains confidentiality and supports, listens and views school success as a team effort Professional Development:Seeks out opportunities for professional development and participates to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skillCreates a professional growth plan demonstrating progress in content areas and instructional methods Reporting Relationship The high school classroom teacher is accountable to the Middle/High School Principal.
