Christel House Academy is Hiring a Part Time Resource Coach at DORS Near Indianapolis, IN

Description

The mission of Christel House Indianapolis is to create empowering opportunities through an equitable, rigorous, and holistic education for all students and alumni, so they actualize their aspirations and develop effective leadership skills. Christel House Indianapolis provides a holistic human development approach that focuses on building strong character to complement each student’s rigorous academic foundation. By building meaningful relationships, Christel House staff empower students of all ages to achieve academic and socio-emotional success. Taking this holistic approach allows Christel House to truly support students’ life aspirations, and in turn transform whole communities. Through their College and Careers program, Christel House Indianapolis continues to support graduates for 5 years after graduation through post-secondary education and job placement, so they become self-sufficient, contributing members of society.

Hours: Monday - Friday 4:30p - 8:00p

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Maintain statistical information and summary information in reports as needed.
  • Actively refer students in distress to support resources.
  • Facilitate the student enrollment process, including orientation.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and staff (within 24 hours Mon.-Fri.)
  • Meet one one-on-one bi-weekly, at minimum, with all students on caseload.
  • Schedule Monthly Resource Events to address student needs.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Provide counsel on attendance and other issues to students on caseload.
  • Utilize intrusive advising to help guide students.
  • Utilize a solutions-focused and growth mindset approach.
  • Collaborate with school staff in implementing strategies to promote student learning and support.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Complete risk assessments on referred students.
  • Maintain case history records and prepare reports.
  • Build trusting relationships with students.
  • Collaborate with available community services in assisting students to remove barriers.
  • Provide counsel on attendance and other issues.
  • Maintains an active case file on each student on caseload – maintaining accurate case notes and documentation.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained.
  • Conduct home visits as needed.
  • Assist with planning and facilitating school activities, i.e. graduation, monthly celebrations, etc.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective performance of the schools.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Bilingual - Spanish preferred.
  • Understanding of Indiana Academic Graduation requirements.
  • Considerable knowledge of local college academic requirements and dual credit offerings.
  • Considerable knowledge on career certification pathways and training opportunities.
  • Ability to review and analyze transcripts
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an educational or social services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience working with students/clients in advising and developing goals.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools
