CCHS Family Medicine – Obstetrician (FM-OB) physician has the opportunity to provide quality, distinctively Christian care, addressing medical and spiritual healthcare needs for underserved men and women in Memphis. CCHS provides a full scope of women’s health services, including outpatient prenatal and gynecologic care and inpatient obstetrics. Our FM-OB physicians see ambulatory patients at a CCHS Health Center. In addition to providing primary care for male and female patients, the FM-OB physician will also provide care for pregnant patients at Baptist Women’s Hospital (BWH). Our obstetrics inpatient service at BWH is staffed by our call team of FM-OB physicians and OB-GYN physicians, who provide back-up when needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides patient care to approximately 18-20 patients per full day of clinic as a part of a patient-centered medical home care team.

2. Monitors and treats patients during pregnancy and childbirth, including delivery and postnatal care

3. Expected patient care hours include-

4. Participates in organizational mission to provide distinctively Christian healthcare

5. Collaborates with and/or supervises nurse practitioners or physician assistants, as appropriate, in providing patient care; may assist in the education training of medical students and residents.

6. Communicates across departments including behavioral and spiritual health

7. Attends staff and medical provider meetings and maintains a level of involvement with the health center committees, as needed, to ensure quality patient care.

8. Participates in continuing medical education, including Life Support Training, to maintain the skills necessary to perform physician duties and as required by applicable medical boards and the State.

9. Physicians are to participate in peer assessment, performance evaluations/improvement data, and other activities to evaluate and advance quality improvement measures

10. Maintains own physical health required to perform physician duties; maintains current immunizations and up-to-date PPD.

11. Documents all patient encounters in a timely manner in hospital and/or clinic health records. Electronic health records used are eClinicalWorks for clinic and Epic for labor and delivery.

May perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Doctor of medicine or osteopathy degree from an accredited institution of medicine or osteopathy

Experience: Completion of residency program with Certification of Specialty Training

Licenses or Certifications: Board Certification (or eligible) in area of specialty training and maintenance of certification; State licensure to practice medicine in the state of Tennessee.
