As our patient population continues to grow throughout the greater Augusta area, we are in search of a caring and competent Full-time Certified Dental Assistant to join our team! Our four clinics (five, including dental) are strategically located in urban Augusta neighborhoods, providing local access to affordable care for patients who face medical, economic and transportation hardships. As a federally qualified health center and certified patient-centered medical home, we accept patients with no insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans.

Position Overview:

Under the general supervision of a Dentist in a clinical setting, the Dental Assistant assists the dentist in the provision of high-quality care within the scope of service consistent with accepted standards of care for dental assistants. Key responsibilities include:

  • Infection Control and Equipment Maintenance;
  • Sterilize all instruments according to OSHA, CDC and ADA guidelines with 100% accuracy on a daily basis;
  • Maintains inventory and dental supplies monthly;
  • Maintains dental equipment based upon manufacturers recommendations;
  • Prepares exam rooms for procedures and is prepared for clinic each day;
  • Takes appropriate and accurate radiographs with no more two attempts (ALARA);
  • Provides active chairside assistance; anticipates the dentist’s needs;
  • Applies fluoride varnish, sealants, and topical medications as required;
  • Take impressions for study casts, athletic mouth guards and custom trays as needed;
  • Assists in the prevention and management of dental emergencies daily;
  • Routinely cleans, disinfects and restocks operatories daily;
  • Accurately records vitals, medications, medical and dental histories for each patient;
  • Accurately records dental treatment in notes prior to the end of each clinical day;
  • Performs miscellaneous duties within the Dental Program as assigned.

What we’re looking for in a candidate:

  • Eager and able to embody this mission, vision, and core values of Christ Community;
  • Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines;
  • Ability to maintain the dental office infection control to meet OSHA, CDC and ADA standards;
  • Maintains and expands current level of dental assistant skill and knowledge by periodically attending continuing education programs;
  • Dental assisting certified preferred;
  • Basic life support (BLS) certified;
  • Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.
