The Lower School is seeking a classroom teacher to create a rich, engaging learning environment for students. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in developmentally appropriate, research-based teaching and learning practices and requires a commitment to professional growth, innovation, collaboration, and a positive outlook.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Lower School Teacher will be responsible for designing and implementing all content areas using an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
While not exhaustive, these are intended as illustrations of the various types of work performed.
Plan, design, and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons to include a variety of resources and instructional strategies to address the needs of all students
Develop and analyze assessments to document the growth and development of each child and plan activities to facilitate further growth and development
Implement effective student management procedures and maintain high standards for student conduct
Develop and maintain positive relationships with students
Collaborate with grade-level peers through weekly planning meetings to deliver effective instruction for all students
Work collaboratively with colleagues within and across divisions to ensure vertical alignment of curricula to effectively support student transition
Coordinate effective use of instructional assistants to support student learning in the classroom environment
Use effective instructional technology resources and strategies
Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development
Serve on committees and engage in professional learning communities
Participate in parent-teacher conferences
Write individualized conference notes and narrative student reports for each student at required periods during the year
Maintain accurate records and submit reports on time
Complete required training each year (CPR, first aid, mandatory reporting, etc.)
Participate in various school community events, after-school activities, and programs to support the overall culture (Parent Nights, concerts, sports, class programs, etc.)
Engage in school-wide traditions (e.g. Special Friends Day, Blessing of the Animals, etc.)
Supervise lunch, recess, and carpool as required
Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and schedules
Respect and maintain confidentiality of privileged information
Perform other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school’s policies, procedures, and practices
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience in an independent school setting
Considerable knowledge of content, learning theory, and effective instructional practices
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing

Lower School Late Stay Teacher The Lower School of Christ Church Episcopal School seeks an engaging individual to help oversee late stay activities. Responsibilities include supervising and assisting children in Primer through 4th grade with their homework, monitoring children during free time activities, and maintaining a safe, appealing environment during all after school activities. Qualified candidates should have a college degree and/or extensive experience working with children. This person should also possess good problem solving skills, have an upbeat personality, work well with a team, and have an overall positive attitude. Hours are Monday through Friday from 2:45 - 5:45 p.m. and compensation is paid hourly.
