Position: Dental AssistantLocation: Sterling, VirginiaReports to: Office ManagerClassification: Full-time hourly.

  • Patient Hours: Mon to Fri 8 am - 5 pm with 1 hour lunch
  • Practice alternates closing on Thursdays and Fridays

A Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting Dr. Jailan Abdelrazek and ensuring smooth operations within Potomac Falls Family Dentistry. You will be assisting dentists during patient examinations and treatments, perform administrative tasks, and help maintain a clean and organized dental environment.

Overall job duties:

  • Aid dentists during patient examinations and dental procedures by handing them instruments, preparing treatment areas, and providing chair-side assistance.
  • Ensure all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared for use, following infection control protocols and guidelines.
  • Comfort and reassure patients before, during, and after dental procedures, addressing their concerns and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Perform dental radiography and assist with taking and developing dental X-rays as per dentist's instructions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes, inputting information into electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts as required.
  • Provide patients with oral hygiene instructions, post-operative care guidelines, and information about dental procedures as directed by the dentist.
  • Assist with scheduling patient appointments, coordinating follow-up visits, and managing patient flow within the practice.
  • Perform various administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, managing patient files, billing, and maintaining inventory of dental supplies.
  • Work collaboratively with other dental staff, including dentists, dental hygienists, and front office personnel, to deliver high-quality patient care and maintain a productive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a dental assistant
  • Minimum 2 years in dental X-ray experience
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology are a must
  • Knowledge of Dentrix is a plus
  • Front desk experience is a plus
