JOB TITLE: Substance Abuse Counselor

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Fee For Service, Part-time, 15 hours/week

SCHEDULED HOURS: Monday-Friday 4pm-8pm and Saturdays 

PROGRAM/LOCATION: PTIP East, Willimantic, CT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: PTIP EAST

DUI Evaluations and DUI Education Groups (AEP) / Drug Evaluations and Drug Education Groups (DEP)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts Group Interaction courses and/or DMHAS approved substance use evaluations.
  • Completes appropriate record keeping on each participant including, but not limited to, attendance, observations, assessments, plans (DAP), recommendations for treatment, etc.
  • Follows the DMHAS approved course plan for Group Interaction.
  • Informs participants of requirements for successful program completion in the initial session.
  • Notifies PAEP/PDEP Supervisor of any program infractions.
  • Assesses each participant’s progress in dealing with any substance use problem and makes recommendations for additional treatment needs if required.
  • Conducts written participant evaluations on the value of the material presented, effectiveness of the instructor and suggestions for course improvement.
  • Performs evaluations, assessments, orientations and referrals as required.
  • Orients clients to PAEP/PDEP programs.
  • Assists in maintaining detailed and accurate records and documentation.
  • Accurately inputs computer data.
  • Attends meetings and trainings as requested and required.
  • Adheres to the Counselor Code of Ethics and Federal Confidentiality Regulations 42 CPR Part 2 and State legislated regulations.
  • Adheres to the CHR Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Other duties as they relate to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have knowledge of substance abuse.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be computer literate.

Education: Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience: Experience in counseling, internship or practicum can be acceptable experience.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Associate’s degree, CAC, CADC, or other addictions certification; or Bachelor’s Degree.

Training: Ongoing training as required while employed.

COMPENSATION*:

$26.00/hour

*Our per diem and fee for service positions offer a flat hourly rate.
