The Registered Dietitian participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team at Choice in Aging and provides services that meet the nutritional needs of our participants.

The Registered Dietitian works under an independent contractor agreement. Services are needed 13 hours per month (7 hours at our Pleasant Hill Adult Day Health Care center and 6 hours at our Antioch Adult Day Health Care center). Centers operate Monday through Friday, 9:30AM - 3:00PM.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide consulting services regarding special diets, menu compliance standards, nutrition services policies and procedures on a contract basis and will be present in the facility pursuant to the terms of the contract;

2. Provide guidance and supervision to staff regarding the preparation of therapeutic diets. Advise food service procedures and ensure quality of service;

3. Provide initial dietary assessment for each new participant and participate in the development of the individualized plan of care;

4. Review participant diet orders and nutritional needs every 90 days when assessment is done;

5. Provide dietary counseling and education for participants and their families as well as staff as part of the nutrition service;

6. Provide education regarding nutrition services for staff as needed;

7. Acts as liaison with contracted meal service agency and the California Department of Education Adult Day Care Food Program representative;

8. Oversee and advise on issues of compliance of Title 22 regulations regarding nutrition services, including but not limited to the licensing and certification policy for "Alternate Method in Dietetic Services.";

9. Maintain a written record of the frequency, nature and duration of all consult work;

10. Monitor menus and all aspects of meal service monthly.

Qualifications:

1. Degree from an accredited school of nutritional science;

2. Possession of a current, valid Certificate of Registration as a Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, American Dietetic Association, or eligible for such registration at the time of appointment and thereafter;

3. Possession of current professional liability insurance coverage.
