CHNK Behavioral Health is Hiring a Registered Nurse Near Covington, KY

 Position Summary

The RN will assist the Manager of Residential Health Services in providing behavioral health services to the residents we serve. The RN will assist the Manager of Residential Health Services in ensuring the residents attend scheduled appointments; all medications are given according to doctor’s orders; all prescription and non-prescription drugs are properly controlled; and all documentation is completed regarding the administration and control of medication. The RN will provide support to the Manager of Residential Health Services and Program Director for any staff training needs. The RN will cover required on-call shifts, which typically involve a phone consultation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Under the direction of the Manager of Residential Health Services he/she will coordinate resident appointments and medication related needs with the consulting psychiatrist or Chief Medical Officer as required by licensing/contract or directed by child’s medical needs.
  • Assist with coordinating the completion and documentation of all medical appointments according to agency policy and procedure.
  • Assists Case Managers with transporting residents to appointments as needed, especially specialists’ appointments.
  • Under the direction of the Manager of Residential Health Services he/she will assist with training Residential Treatment Specialists to properly administer medication and complete documentation.
  • Monitor administration of medication through MAR, med count sheet. Will also provide monthly documentation on DSS 169 and 1294. Including conducting regular cottage medication reviews.
  • Under the direction of the Manager of Residential Health Services he/she will coordinate with the pharmacy to ensure proper protocol of medication storage and distribution.
  • Participates in on call rotation and is available and shares responsibility with Manager of Residential Health Services with the emergent situations on a 24/7 basis. 
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Attend required training as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President of Residential Services.

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a current license in the State of Kentucky or willing to obtain Kentucky license.
  • Ability to conduct in-service training for youth care staff in administration and documentation
    of medication as required by policy (MAR).
  • Must have a current driver’s license with insurance.
  • Must be able to perform on call duties as needed, typically involving phone consults.
  • Demonstrate proven sensitivity to the various cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of Children’s Home clients and staff.
