Job Description:


Job Summary:

Chloeta is seeking an WCON Registered Nurse (RN) to provide services at a medical hospital in Gallup, NM. The ideal RN will find solace in caring for a community in need of compassionate and culturally aware care. This facility is a 60-bed medical center and has one of the largest patient volumes within the Navajo Area. The facility provides inpatient and outpatient primary and specialty care services. The Emergency Department (ED) provides emergency medical treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week to patients of all ages and is designated as a Level IV trauma center. The ED is certified as Peds Ready by the New Mexico Emergency Medical Services for Children and the University of New Mexico Child Ready Program.

Job Classification: Full Time

Supervisory Responsibilities: None but may serve as a mentor.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate care to patients in various settings to enhance their quality of life.
  • Collect specimens and appropriate process for varying medical concerns.
  • Provide medical care based on specialty.
  • Support efforts to identify and isolate infectious patients.
  • Provide necessary services in support of the facility’s effort to follow all applicable CLIA, CMS, and accrediting body regulations.
  • Participate in community interventions to include participating in case identification and treatment of communicable disease; participating in surveillance for community health trends and status; public health education including providing health education to individuals, families, and community groups in various settings.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up as directed or per established guidelines.
  • Observe and abide by all policies and procedures, bylaws, rules, and regulations of stationed unit.
  • Independently provide a wide range of professional nursing duties according to established professional nursing principles, practices, concepts and procedures in the Wound Care Ostomy Clinic.
  • Educate on post-operative care; manage and treat patients with peri- and post-operative problems; perform highly specialized nursing assignments appropriate to the various age groups of patients served and to assure proper care of patients.
  • Maintain, monitor, and operate specialized equipment and instruments for simple to unexpected complications of surgical procedures.
  • Use the nursing process as a framework to determine the delivery of nursing care/services in accordance with departmental practice standards.
  • Perform clinical procedures, intravenous access, and phlebotomy, point of care laboratory testing, IVIG infusions, EKG, SVN Respiratory Treatments and response to emergency codes.
  • Maintain the dignity and worth of individuals, respects cultural, spiritual, and psychosocial differences and applies philosophical and ethical concepts that promote quality and continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate continual cultural awareness and focus on customer service while adhering to the facility's policies and procedures, HIPAA, Code of Ethics and Federal Code of Conduct, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Must have 36 months of nursing experience with a minimum of one year in required specialty.
  • Required: Possess an associate’s (or a higher level of education) in nursing through an accredited program in the U.S.A.
  • Required: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. License verification must be provided at the time of application.
  • Required: Maintain valid and current certification and provide proof at the time of application in the following:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Required: Possess and maintain a current driver's license in any state.
  • Required: Provide three (3) professional references at the time of application.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
  • Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
  • Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
  • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

Pre-employment Requirements:

Drug and Alcohol Testing:

To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.
