A position is currently available in our Applications and Estimation Department for a Project Estimator. The Project Estimator role will provide in-house support to the Sales and/or Applications and Estimation Teams by estimating costs, schedules and labor for projects. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and comfortable providing statistical analysis for evaluation and determination of the best solutions to customer requests.
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze requirement documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project.
  • Estimate & forecast all information related to costs, schedules, and labor for a given project with assistance/support from the Applications Engineering Team along with other internal resources.
  • Computes labor & material costs.
  • Prepare estimates used for planning, organizing, scheduling work, and preparing bids.
  • Select vendors or subcontractors, and determines cost effectiveness.
  • Provide pertinent information to other departments, including engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and project management.
  • Establish the baseline budget and schedule for the project.
  • Update all estimates and forecasts based on any new data which is identified.
  • Identify techniques to improve estimating, planning, and cost control.
  • Interface with Applications Engineers and other team members to explain estimates and techniques used to derive those estimates.
  • Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders.
  • Areas of estimating: Engineering Effort, Manufacturing, Materials, Components, Assembly, Installation.
  • Ensures all safety policies are followed at all times.
  • All other duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university helpful but not required, based on experience.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and prints
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or other statistical analysis tools.
  • Statistical analysis is a key attribute for this position.
  • Experience in Manufacturing, Fabrication, and/or Machining industry a plus.
  • Experience and understanding of Estimating machinery and/or systems.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, with occasional visits to manufacturing environments where exposure to mechanical moving parts and electrical components may occur.
Schedule and Hours: 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with weekend and holiday work as required.
