Chino Valley Unified School District is Hiring a Part-time Registered Nurse or LVN/LVP Near Valley, AZ

TITLE: Part-time School Bus Registered Nurse or LVN/LVP STATE CODE: 045

REPORTS TO: Superintendent FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

EXPECTATION FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Registered Nurse or LVP/LPN provides emergency care, first aid, and nursing services for medically fragile student in keeping with State regulations and school policy. This position will work with a special needs child in a 1:1 capacity during their transportation to school and home on the school bus. The assignment would be either the AM or PM or both bus rides with the student for approximately 10-20 hours per week.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide emergency care, first aid, and nursing services for medically fragile student in keeping with State regulations and school policy.
  • Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students.
  • Responsible for early detection of physical problems, as well as health evaluations.
  • Responsible for disease prevention.
  • Maintains clinical records.
  • Provides emergency aid to students and school staff.
  • Referrals to appropriate medical professionals for students in need.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are ordered and stored.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Principles and practices underlying the special field of pediatric nursing.
  • Have personal communication skills and traits that promote a child friendly atmosphere.
  • Organization and administration of other cooperating agencies.
  • State and local laws relating to school health and social issues

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Registered nurse (R.N.) or LVN/LPN with IV certification.
  • Unencumbered Arizona or Multistate nursing license.
  • CPR/BFA

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Environment involves no physical risks or hazardous conditions
  • Work environment involves slight physical risks that require basic safety precautions (safety glasses, lab coats, rubber gloves etc.)
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following detailed safety precautions (such as wearing respirators, handling hazardous materials, and working with industrial machinery.)
