Chimpoulis & Hunter, P.A. is currently seeking to hire a Litigation Paralegal
with a minimum of 2-5 years of experience, preferably in the arena of medical malpractice defense

Chimpoulis & Hunter is an insurance defense law firm located in Plantation, Broward County, Florida, providing representation in Medical Malpractice cases. We represent physicians and medical groups throughout the southern and middle region of the State of Florida. At Chimpoulis & Hunter we work under a team approach inclusive of Attorneys, Registered Nurses, Paralegals, Legal Assistants and Litigation Support Specialists, to bring over three decades of experience servicing medical malpractice insurance carriers and their insureds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform legal and factual research; perform records research.
  • Organize and analyze background information; cross-check and validate information.
  • Prepare written status reports and correspondence to clients.
  • Draft legal documents including witness and exhibit lists, motions in limine; propound discovery to plaintiffs and co-defendants (RFP, RFA, Interrogatories); answer incoming discovery on behalf of our client(s)
  • Draft motions in limine, motions to compel, etc.
  • Check legal forms and documents for accuracy.
  • Maintain case reference files; organize and track case files.
  • Locate and communicate with witnesses; interact with clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or completion of a certificate program in paralegal studies
  • Minimum of three years legal experience, ideally in the litigation arena
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered
  • Thorough knowledge of legal principles, legal research techniques, legal terminology
  • Excellent legal drafting, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, fax machine, printer, scanner, and computer
  • Ability to work within research databases and on-line technological platforms
  • Ability to be detail-oriented, inclusive of maintaining, tracking and sharing researched information with the case team
  • Ability to handle conflicting time demands and focus on task completion with little direction or need for supervisory follow-up
  • Proficient command of the English language in both oral and written format
  • Ability to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various backgrounds and professional competencies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner
