Chimes is Hiring a Warehouse Specialist Near Charlottesville, VA

Shift: 6:30am - 3:00pm

Job Summary:

Responsible for warehousing services. Position requires strong interpersonal skills and compassion and respect for persons with disabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspect all incoming shipments for damage and accuracy compared to invoice
  • Operate x-ray and other security equipment to screen all material received, issued, or stored
  • Document damage and discrepancies with invoice
  • Coordinate for government signature and date the invoice
  • Contract company that ships materials to resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare documentation that causes partial payment of partial shipments
  • Record & store or forward all supplies coming into or leaving the warehouse
  • Establish a system to locate and store supplies and equipment in accordance with Army procedural guidance
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and keep current
  • Examine stored material and report deterioration and damage
  • Notify Property Book Officer if material in warehouse is over 30 days
  • Sign and date the DD form 1348 series after receipt of quantities verified
  • Deliver Receiving Reports to the Logistics Division
  • Prepare documentation for release of supplies and equipment
  • Pack and/or crate material that requires protection
  • Attach appropriate shipping labels
  • Understand and enforce warehouse fire prevention requirements
  • Maintain key control for the warehouse
  • Maintain material handling equipment
  • Dispose of packing and crating materials
  • Maintain various logs to ensure audit trails
  • Operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties
  • Use and care for equipment properly following all safety requirements
  • Use technology for the completion of specified job duties
  • Attend work regularly according to assigned work schedule
  • Wear ID badge(s) at all times while performing work under this contract
  • Follow instructions and comply with contract specifications
  • Attend and participate in all meetings and activities to facilitate professional development
  • Work cooperatively with others in a positive, enthusiastic, respectful, and courteous manner
  • Pass and comply with rules for the site, security and safety guidelines, and Chimes District of Columbia Rules for the Workplace, and ensure others do the same

Secondary Functions:

  • Deliver mail and supplies
  • Perform other duties and tasks as needed

Physical Abilities Needed to Meet Work Demands:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to go up and down stairs
  • Ability to get into and out of truck
  • Ability to reach above the head, bend, kneel, stoop
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 lbs. regularly and over as needed
  • Ability to work in dusty spaces or adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to see details on the floor, above the head, or on surfaces

Other requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to drive
  • License must have been valid for at least 3 years
  • Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency’s insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures
  • Candidates with disabilities preferred
  • US Citizenship required

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements associated with tasks performed

Experience:

  • Five years of experience in all phases of warehouse operation preferred
