ChildServe is Hiring a Hiring Bonus-Childcare Teacher Assistant - PRN (flexible hours) Near Ames, IA

New hires working at least 20 hours per week may be eligible for up to a $4,000 bonus in the first six months of employment and an additional $2,000 every six months after. We are looking for caring and energetic Teacher Assistants to join our team at our childcare center in Ames! 10-20 hours per week, Monday - Friday only. These individuals will contribute to a positive, nurturing environment that is safe, clean and organized for the children between the ages of 6 weeks and 6 years. Teacher Assistants will also encourage children’s overall development through appropriate play-based activities and by working collaboratively with families.
Benefits and Compensation
The starting pay for this position is $13/ hour.
Our staff are eligible to participate in the WAGE$ program which provides an additional stipend to individuals working in eligible early care and educational programs.
Schedule
Monday - Friday hours, currently in need of applicants who have afternoon availability on Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays.
What You’ll Do
  • Provide routine care for infants and/or children including diaper changing/assistance with personal cares, hygiene and hand washing, serving meals and snacks.
  • Maintain children's safety by providing constant supervision in compliance with staff/child ratio requirements and utilizing name to face attendance log.
  • Consistently assess and monitor children’s general health and report concerns to supervisor and family as appropriate.
  • Complete tasks to maintain a clean, organized and safe environment indoors and outdoors.
  • Maintain and support a structured environment and routine according to Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports strategies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to families
  • Documentation - Complete documentation accurately and according to established deadlines.
  • Arrive on time and attend assigned training sessions, staff meetings and annual staff development training.
What You’ll Need
  • Ability to pass a ChildServe physical examination at commencement of employment and thereafter as regulations require.
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs, be mobile within the classroom and playground areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
  • Ability to become certified in First Aide, CPR, Mandatory Reporter, Standard Precautions and DHS Pre-Service Essential training within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • Experience providing care and supervision for children preferred
  • This position may be subject to COVID-19 safety requirements. If applicable, specific requirements will be discussed during the interview process
