Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Program Manager, the Skills Trainer in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides skill building and behavioral services for clients (ages 10-17) in accordance with the established treatment plan, to ensure that the children receive the full range of care and treatment. The Skills Trainer also serves to plan and coordinate groups, provides skill building activities and completes necessary program documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures the safety of the clients at all times.
• Provides group skills training as established by treatment plans and Clinical team on behaviors which include but are not limited to client safety, communication, coping, problem solving, anger management and social skills; participate in pre-group planning and session development, role playing and other group training methods and activities.
• Schedules and coordinates group sessions.
• Leads assigned groups in the PHP program, to include skills training activities.
• Prepares material for groups on a daily basis.
• Plans, organizes, and facilitates activities for clients in conjunction with the treatment plan.
• Completes daily progress notes and appropriate documentation for PHP as necessary.
• Using established best practices list, provides basic living skills training and life skills coaching and education to clients based on established treatment plan and goals; model appropriate skills and behaviors; supply educational material, offer suggestions, and use appropriate tools and resources; lead, organize and participate in specific skills training activities as determined by the Clinician.
• Meets with the Clinicians daily or as needed to review cases.
• Works cohesively with the PHP team (including the Insurance Utilization Managers, PHP Coordinator, PHP Clinicians, other PHP skills trainer, and interns) as needed to ensure quality client care and daily program preparation/implementation of treatment.
• Completes written documentation per program requirements, and in compliance with agency policy and training.
• Acts as a role model to clients and actively incorporate and demonstrate personal and professional empowerment principles such as conflict management, assertive communication, respect, and acknowledgement of biases.
• Responds to client emergencies, responds appropriately to the situation based on direction.
• Attends a variety of meetings, trainings, and seminars, which may include staff and departmental meetings, clinical case meetings, external training, and Agency training programs.
• Maintain high ethical standards; serve as a cooperative and productive team member within assigned program area, division, and the Agency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, client safety/treatment plans and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Excel.
Education/Experience:
Required
BA/BS Degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
