Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Clinical Allergy Specialist is a multi-skilled health professional who works interdependently with other health professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. The Clinical Allergy Specialist is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the practice, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions. As a Clinical Allergy technician, you will perform the day-to-day operations of an allergy center within the office. From administering allergy tests and mixing the medication, to educating patients about the benefits of immunotherapy.

As a Clinical Allergy technician, you will perform the day-to-day operations of an allergy center within the office. From administering allergy tests and mixing the medication, to educating patients about the benefits of immunotherapy.
Allergy Tech Job Duties:
I. ADMINISTRATIVE:
- Ensure patients complete all appropriate paperwork and that insurance eligibility is verified for each patient prior to test and immunotherapy as appropriate.
- Answer telephones calls with allergy questions.
- Fill out insurance paperwork, handle correspondence and respond emails.
- Schedule allergy appointments
- Update and file allergy records and allergy testing results.
- Handle receivable and payable allergy accounts and keep financial records.
- Handle and submit all billing documentation to the appropriate office.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, notify operations manager ahead of needs.
- Calling in prescriptions to pharmacy for practice providers previous allergy testing.
- Knowledge of allergy services systems and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Establish relationships with patients ranging from 4 years to 21 years old, and their parents.
- Interview patients and document basic medical and allergy history.
- Deliver safe and efficacious clinical outcomes to include the administration of quality allergy testing and the formulation and preparation of allergen immunotherapy
- Educate patients on proper administration of immunotherapy injections as well as advocate for strong compliance throughout their treatment plan.
- Communicate with patient's families on behalf of the providers and coordinate follow-up care.
- Dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
- Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards.
- Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer services and interpersonal communication skills; Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
- Must be highly flexible; able to accommodate changing needs of the practice.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication
- Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision. Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
- Occasional lift/carry 10lbs or more.
