Childrens Center Of Hamden Inc is Hiring a Visitation Coach - Quality Parenting Center Near Hamden, CT
The QPC is a community based service, using a parent empowerment model, serving DCF involved families who have had their children removed and placed in foster or kinship care, using a supervision visitation model. The Visitation Coach will be responsible for supervising visits between parents/caregivers and their children. The supervised visits will be done in accordance with the QPC model. Coaches will be responsible for the pre and post meetings and the real-time coaching of parents. The Visitation Coach is responsible for all documentation of meetings.
Hours/Schedule:
37.5 hours per week with core hours being 12:00pm-8:30pm with flexibility conducive to the program and the needs of the families served. Days off for this position are to be determined.
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Experience working with youth is required.
- Experience working directly with families in crisis.
- Proven written communication skills.
- Understanding of family, generational, and cultural dynamics.
- Knowledge of child welfare practices, dynamics, legal issues and support systems.
- Ability to effectively de-escalate crisis and provide necessary physical intervention.
- Ability to support and lead an inclusive environment.
- Ability to identify, assess and respond to safety & risk issues.
- Interpersonal skills conducive to effective coaching.
- Demonstrated decision making & problem solving skills
- The ability to multi-task and provide strong organizational skills.
- Proficient technology skills with up-to-date computer and mobile device expertise.
