POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this position will be responsible for accounting and all purchasing functions of The Children’s Center of Hamden. Works closely with staff across the agency. Under the direction of the Senior Accountant, this position will be responsible for the following areas: Assists with processing and generating monthly financials, including both internal and external (Board) reports. Organizes and distribute monthly financial reports. Processes receivables/scan in checks for deposits and ensuring proper allocation of deposit. Assists with monthly close out activities. Fulfills all purchase requests made by staff across the agency, utilizing the purchasing module in Sage Intacct. The Junior Accountant will be responsible for enforcing procurement policies across The Children’s Center of Hamden and will coordinate bid processes to ensure compliance with procurement conflict of interest policies and regulations. The Junior Accountant manages the vendor and contractor files, including sending the vendor our tax-exempt certificate and also having them submit a W9 to us. The position will also be will also work the finance team to ensure that vendor invoices are paid on time. Additionally, this position is responsible for making sure vendors receive the appropriate tax documentation (1099s) at the end of the year.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, preferred.
• 2 – 3 years of experience in accounting & high level of attention to detail.
• Non-profit experience a plus.
