Children's West Surgery Center is Hiring a Director of Nursing Near Knoxville, TN

Position:Director of Nursing -Full Time, Benefits Eligible, Exempt Salaried Position

Reports To:Administrator and Medical Director

Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years Perioperative Managerial Experience

Mission Statement:To provide excellence in outpatient surgical care, within a safe environment supportive of children, adolescents and their families, physicians, and employees.

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) oversees all clinical operations, ensuring safe patient care is provided by qualified, competent staff to all patients seeking care at Children’s West Surgery Center. The DON shares responsibilities with the Administrator for physical operational management of the center.

The following responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversight for all clinical programs and personnel, ensuring regulatory compliance with AAAHC, State and Federal standards, as well as center policies / procedures
  • Development and execution of policies / procedures / clinical documentation
  • Facilitate and/or participate in CQI meetings / projects
  • Sharing fiscal responsibilities with Administration
  • Sharing the management of facility mechanical operational needs, preventative services, environment of care systems, etc. and required documentation / follow-up of such services
  • Supervision / guidance -- Safety, Materials, Pharmaceutical & Employee Health programs
  • Providing supervision, guidance, & mentorship for Clinical leaders and preceptors
  • Participation in the rotation with clinical leaders to complete duties required for opening and closing the center
  • Shared leadership / oversight for practice management systems, patient, and staff communication programs
  • Physician support with electronic prescribing software
  • Development and maintenance of job descriptions
  • Management of human resources -- recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, evaluations, retention, and discipline
  • Conduct staff meetings, promote educational programs for staff development
  • Monitoring of staffing metrics, staff performance, orientation, evaluations, patient care delivery, patient outcomes and providing guidance for improvements
  • Prompt investigation and follow-up of concerns
  • Encouraging professional growth and shared governance, engaging staff in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Serving as a role model for clinical excellence
  • Ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service to patients and guests

Requirements:

Healthcare Management experience

RN - Licensed and eligible to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited university

Computer literacy

Licensure / Certification :

BLS

PALS certification is required within 90 days of hire

CNOR, Pediatric and / or leadership certifications are encouraged

Membership in a pediatric & / or surgical organization is encouraged
