Children's of Alabama is Hiring a Software Engineer III Near Birmingham, AL

  • Job Summary
    • The Software Engineer III must have knowledge in all stages of software development. This individual will be part of the development team and create and maintain new software programs. This role will work closely with both technical and non-technical staff in defining business and technical requirements to develop new functions or redesign/consolidate existing processes. The job entails communicating effectively with project managers and other developers about requirements and proposed alterations to design. They will be responsible for front end, back end development and unit testing using a variety of languages, tools, and database technologies. They are flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary. As a level II this individual will be an expert in their craft, being responsible for high level design and analysis. Mentoring less experienced team members and ensuring best practices are part of their job duties. Experience, combined with excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, enables them to solve difficult issues. This individual has proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative. Being a highly effective communicator and collaborator is paramount to this role. The individual will work with many different people of varying technical backgrounds. This person is a leader on the team, can communicate effectively, stay on task, be a positive influence, and lead a project work.

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field - OR - 7 years of equivalent technical experience required
  • Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
