Description

The Hospital Medicine Division of Children's National Hospital (CNH) has exciting opportunities for Pediatric Hospitalists to join a dynamic team that serves children in the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. We are one of the largest divisions in the country and care for patients at 7 hospitals across the region. Our sites vary in their scope of patient care and there is flexibility with the open positions to work at one or a combination of the sites below.

Children's National Hospital, Washington, DC - Is ranked #5 in the nation and #1 in Newborn Care. Our group provides clinical coverage of several services lines throughout the hospital, including academic teams with various learners, complex care, perioperative care, orthopedic co-management, telemedicine follow-up, and more. Faculty appointment is available through George Washington University.

Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD - Our group provides 24/7 in-house coverage at this affiliated community hospital. Clinical coverage includes an inpatient pediatric unit, a newborn nursery, and pediatric consultations as needed in the ED. Teaching opportunities with medical students, residents, and multidisciplinary staff.

Hospital for Sick Children, Washington, DC - Our group provides daytime clinical coverage at our post-acute and rehabilitation facility with a multi-disciplinary team. Clinical responsibilities include the care of premature infants, feeding difficulties, heart and lung diseases, ventilator-dependency, rehabilitation after traumatic injuries, wound care, IV therapy and other medically complex health conditions.

Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA - Our group provides 24/7 in-house coverage at this affiliated community hospital. Clinical coverage includes a 10-bed pediatric unit, a newborn nursery, and pediatric consultations as needed in the Emergency Department (ED). Teaching opportunities with medical students, residents, and multidisciplinary staff.

Stafford Hospital, Stafford, VA - Our group provides 24/7 in-house coverage at this affiliated community hospital. Clinical coverage includes a newborn nursery, a 6-bed Level II NICU, deliveries, and pediatric consultations as needed in the ED. Telemedicine and transport support available from the Neonatology group at Mary Washington and/or Children's National Hospital.

Tidal Health Peninsula Regional, Salisbury MD - Our group provides 24/7 coverage at this affiliated community hospital. Clinical coverage includes an inpatient pediatric unit, pediatric consultations as needed in the ED, and circumcisions. Teaching opportunities with medical students, residents, and multidisciplinary staff.

Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington, VA - Our group provides both in-house and home-call coverage (with residents in-house) at this affiliated community hospital. Clinical coverage includes an inpatient pediatric unit, a newborn nursery, and pediatric consultations as needed in the ED. Teaching opportunities with medical students, residents, and multidisciplinary staff.

Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
Ability to function independently in evaluating patient problems and developing a plan for patient care.
Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team.
Ability to supervise, advice, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.

Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children's National Medical Center (Required) Board certified or eligible for board certification in primary practice specialty (Required)

  • Actively participate in family centered care and communicate in a professional and compassionate manner; refer patients to specialists and to relevant ancillary services as appropriate.
