Children’s pediatric cardiovascular program is one of the largest in the region. We are committed to excellence in pediatric cardiac surgery and have some of the best outcomes in the country. More than 11,000 heart surgeries have been performed at Children’s since the program began in 1977. Our experienced team of cardiac surgeons, physician assistants, interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists performs more than 420 cardiac surgeries and over 400 catheterization lab procedures each year for babies, children, teens and young adults born with heart defects. The cardiovascular care center at Children’s Minnesota Minneapolis Hospital includes a 25-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit, a cardiovascular operating room, a hybrid operating room with single-plane technology, a newly remodeled biplane catheterization lab, a pre and post-operative unit, a simulation lab and conference center. In 2018, Children’s launched its heart failure and heart transplant program to provide children experiencing heart failure with access to heart failure management, ventricular assist device therapy, and heart transplants in a setting designed specifically for kids, close to home. We value teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. We embrace an environment that encourages learning and professional growth and are committed to providing excellent care to our patients and families.
