Overview

The Surgical Technician I will function as a member of the patient care team, under the direction and supervision of the physician and/or registered nurse. This position provides technical skills in the role of the surgical scrub before, during and after operative procedures, by anticipating needs, preparing, organizing and troubleshooting equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures. Assists the physician(s) and nursing staff to provide optimal patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, utilizing resources efficiently, communicating effectively, and is proficient in scrubbing Level 3 procedures and below.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency as a Surgical Technologist
  • Demonstrates the knowledge of risk and safety issues and uses measures to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Demonstrates actions that exhibit accountability and professional judgement.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred or
  • HS diploma or equivalent Required and 1-2 years experience Surgical Technologist experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Upon Hire
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $22.06/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
