A Brief Overview

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Division of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in the lab of Laura Prosser, PT, PhD. The lab studies the development and rehabilitation of movement in children with neurological impairments, with a focus on early motor development in children with or at risk for cerebral palsy. This includes the investigation of the development of impaired movement, the study of novel motor rehabilitation interventions, and the interaction between the processes of neuroplasticity and neuromaturation in sensorimotor systems. Current projects include the study of novel rehabilitation interventions and the development of novel measures of movement and function in infants and young children.

The postdoctoral fellow will become part of our multidisciplinary clinical research team and contribute to the understanding of the development of impairment movement in children with neuromotor conditions. The individual will be expected to conduct independent research and contribute to the overall goals of the laboratory. Postdocs are expected to participate in project planning, data analysis and presentation of work through seminars, scientific meetings, and manuscript preparation – skills that will help the fellow launch a career as an independent research investigator. Training should include a strong background in biomechanics, developmental science, computer science or rehabilitation science. Candidates should have obtained a PhD degree in the last 5 years and demonstrate strong communication and organization skills.

Interested applicants should contact Dr. Prosser (prosserl@chop.edu)
