A Brief Overview
Under the direction of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary treatment team, the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will provide comprehensive & holistic support to patients admitted to the psychiatric inpatient units. RBTs will support milieu therapies through participation in program development and review, group or milieu based interventions, and training on and implementation of individualized behavior plans. RBTs will support completion of functional behavior assessments through data collection and review. The RBT also ensures the safety of patients at risk of harm to self or others with direct observation, therapeutic interaction, and maintaining a safe environment of care. The RBT effectively partners with patients by orienting them to the unit or space, answering questions, gathering clinical information and collateral contacts, providing therapeutic support and psychoeducation. The RBT actively engages with the patients in a therapeutic manner by providing structure/ schedule, providing direct observation, encouraging participation in group, individual, and milieu activities. The RBT develops strong partnerships with all members of the care team with the shared goal to provide excellent, safe, & supportive care to all patients.
