We are looking for someone who has relevant pediatric experience and has supervisory experience within that domain that can lead the profession of Occupational Therapy in a large hospital system.The Rehab Manager is responsible for providing the overall direction and guidance for therapy and support services in the assigned rehab areas. Responsibilities include principles of service excellence, staffing and staff development, education, team building, clinical and financial management. Position serves as a member of the Rehabilitation Service leadership team and duties are performed in line with the health system's mission, vision, values, and core objectives. Identifies and removes potential barriers to business unit success, manages effective processes, leads people, pursues ways to meet customer needs and expectations. In addition, this role selects supervisors and staff, coaches, mentors, counsels, hires, fires, and is the retention officer for direct reports and staff, reviews and signs off on evaluations. This role resolves problems and issues; assures employees have equipment necessary to perform duties, prepares and manages budget, and engages and collaborates with physicians. Participates in Professional Development Planning Process. Trains and serves as a role model to others for positive leadership behavior and positive promotional leadership development in self and others. Eliminates waste, improves throughput, practices the principles of Kaizen, practices just in time principles, and instilling positive inspiration and encouragement in employees. Plans, organizes, sets goals, sets action plans, and controls to follow up to make certain goals are met. Monitors financial reports and provides justification for all variances. Implements and monitors effective cost control strategies.Assures appropriate staffing of rehabilitation area of responsibility by determining patient/staff ratios to provide optimum productivity ; meets Action OI benchmark target set by Finance department; interviews prospective employees, hires, orients, and trains new personnel. Evaluates, advises, and rewards personnel to assure optimum productivity, quality patient care, and job satisfaction.Collaborates with organizational management staff to promote safety awareness and provide a safe therapeutic environment for patients, personnel, and the public.Communicates all safety issues and reports all patient incidents and employee injuries to the appropriate area.Guides and promotes the skills, career growth, and development of staff members with annual education plan to maintain competencies of all personnel.Oversees clinical education (student internships) in the rehabilitation areas by directing clinical instructors in order to assure safe and appropriate patient care as well as provide for an optimum clinical affiliation for the student.Participates in community events; marketing opportunities, health fairs, promotions, educational sessions and other opportunities as the key representative of rehabilitation services.Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of therapy-specific policies and procedures to meet standards of practice and compliance to regulatory standards. Maintains current knowledge of the Joint Commission, CMS, CARF and other standards relevant to hospital and rehabilitation operations.Participates in the interdisciplinary performance improvement program and provides timely reports of data analysis, action for improvements, and assessment of effectiveness of improvement strategies.Other InformationSCOPE AND LEVELGuidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated vision and objectives for the division or agency. 2nd level manager directs and manages an operational and/or a functional area by developing objectives and strategies. (i.e. audiology, learning disability specialty, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology)EXPERIENCE – Three years of clinical and demonstrated leadership to include 1 year supervisory experience in interdisciplinary setting. EQUIVALENCY - NoneCERTIFICATION(S) – All employees must have the following: BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR, and appropriate state license/certification for their field of expertise.
