  • Administers and performs diagnostic tests, and provides instruction to patients with correctable vision focusing defects, under the medical direction of a licensed ophthalmologist.
  • Knowledge of basic eye anatomy and physiology as well as Ophthalmic tests and procedures as would be acquired through completion of a two-year ophthalmic technician program or equivalent experience.
  • National certification by the Joint Commission of Allied Health Professionals in Ophthalmology which is obtained through successful completion of written and practical examination or eligibility to sit for the JCAHPO certifying examination.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work collaboratively with coworkers, physicians, children, and their families.
  • Physical ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time to perform or assist with patient care procedures.
  • The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services.
  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
  • Frequently bends, lifts, twists, reaches, and squats.
  • Occasionally push/pulls and does overhead work.
