Children's Home Society of WV is seeking a full-time Parent Educator for our Parents as Teachers program serving Gilmer, Calhoun, and Roane Counties.
Position Goal: To work directly with parents of children (prenatal to Kindergarten), providing parents with information regarding child development and effective parenting techniques. The Parent Educator will look at the family as a unit, use a strength -based approach, and provide support to the family using screening tools, referrals, and information from collateral sources.
Responsibilities for the Parent Educator position include working with families in their home to promote healthy childhood growth and development and positive parent/child interaction. Additional responsibilities include completion of assessments and documentation, development and implementation of monthly group activities, community outreach, and participation in ongoing training.
Requirements: Applicants must have a demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development, strong communication skills, reliable transportation, valid automobile insurance, and pass all required background checks. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field preferred, Associate’s degree in a human services related field required. Salary based on level of education.
