About the position:

An IT Generalist is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to the organization's staff and clients. An IT Generalist performs a variety of tasks, such as installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software systems, networks, databases, and security devices. An IT Generalist also provides training and guidance to users on how to use various IT tools and applications. This position often assists with various IT projects and will lead projects as needed. An IT Generalist works closely with other IT professionals and reports to the Vice President of Operations and Technology.

Job Function:

  • Provide technical support and assistance to the organization's staff and clients via phone, email, or remote access.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and software systems, such as computers, printers, scanners, routers, switches, firewalls, servers, databases, and backup devices.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance and security of IT systems and networks and resolve any issues or incidents that arise.
  • Implement and enforce IT policies and procedures, such as password management, data protection, disaster recovery, and user access rights.
  • Research and evaluate new IT technologies and solutions and make recommendations for improvement or upgrade.
  • Provide training and guidance to users on how to use various IT tools and applications, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Document and maintain IT inventory, records, logs, and reports.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals and vendors to ensure the quality and reliability of IT services and products.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School.
  • Two to five years of experience in IT support, administration, or development, with demonstrated skills in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of various IT domains, such as networking, security, cloud computing, databases, web development, and software engineering.
  • Experience with common IT tools and platforms, such as Windows, Linux, Office 365, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, SQL Server, Oracle, WordPress, Salesforce, etc.
  • Certifications in relevant IT areas, such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, etc., are a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of various IT systems, applications, and hardware, such as Windows, Linux, MacOS, cloud computing, network devices, servers, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve IT issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Experience with project management, documentation, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with IT security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of AI technologies and how to use them for customers and educational resources.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and skills and adapt to changing IT needs.
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent changes and interruptions.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and climb when installing or troubleshooting hardware and network devices.
  • Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, and use a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and phone as needed.
  • Ability to travel to different locations as required, and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.
