Summary:

In collaboration with the Senior Director of Infection Prevention the Industrial Hygienist establishes and administers evidence based system-wide programs for environmental infection prevention in the areas of construction, water quality, ventilation quality and control, cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and furnishings, reprocessing of medical instruments and equipment, and reprocessing of textiles. The Industrial Hygienist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and system leadership to develop initiatives that identify, assess, and resolve environmental infection prevention opportunities.

Responsibilities:

* The Industrial Hygienist will lead the healthcare/hospital project management that requires identifying, assessing, and resolving issues across the environment of care as it relates to infection prevention.

* Serves as the Collaborative participant in the creation of Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) and Patient Safety Risk Assessment (PSRA) documents and strategies in conformance with regulatory/advisory agency guidelines and system policies, such as Title V, NPDES, TSCA, EPCRA, and RCRA.

* Monitors the effectiveness of construction or renovation infection control risk mitigation measures, and recommends revisions as deemed necessary.

* Facilitates the development and validation of a water management program to meet requirements from authorities having jurisdiction over water parameters related to infection prevention and control.

* Monitors the effectiveness of programs to manage the potential infection risk to patients, staff and the public from instrument and patient care equipment reprocessing and disinfection, and recommends revisions as deemed necessary.

* Facilitates the development and validation of a ventilation management program to validate ventilation systems meet ASHRAE 170 and other standards related to infection prevention and control.

* Consults and as the evidence-based practice expert in the identification, investigation, and resolution of infection clusters or outbreaks with environmental aspects.

* Quantifying hazard exposure using specialized instrumentation, conducting multi-media sampling and periodically assessing Indoor Air Quality working with environmental services leadership.

* Creates databases and spread sheets to manage data and identify needs for system wide data management programs.

* Provides risk and hazard exposure assessments for pharmacy operations and clinical laboratories as requested.

* Annual inspection and assessment of linen laundry vendor.

How You'll Be Successful:

WORK EXPERIENCE

* At least 5 years direct Industrial Hygiene experience Req

* At least 5 years Healthcare Industrial Hygiene experience Pref

EDUCATION

* Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Biology, Environmental Science or science related field Req

* Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Biology or related field Pref

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

* Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene (CSP) Pref

* Certified Industrial Hygiene Upon Hire Req

* Certified Infection Contol (CIC) Pref
