Children's Bureau of Southern CA proudly is committed and supportive of complete pay transparency. The position of Group Facilitator (Father Engagement) (Part Time) - 10 hours will pay $27/hour.

The Father Engagement Group Facilitator at the Children's Bureau is responsible for leading and facilitating group sessions aimed at promoting positive father involvement and enhancing parenting skills. The facilitator will play a pivotal role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for fathers to share experiences, learn from one another, and develop strategies to strengthen their relationships with their children. This position requires strong facilitation skills, a deep understanding of fatherhood issues, and a passion for empowering fathers and families.

Job Responsibilities:

Group Facilitation

  • Plan and facilitate engaging and interactive group sessions for fathers participating in the Father Engagement Program.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment that encourages open discussion, active participation, and mutual respect among group members.
  • Utilize effective facilitation techniques to encourage meaningful conversations, problem-solving, and skill development.
  • Incorporate evidence-based strategies and best practices for promoting positive parenting and father-child relationships.
  • Adapt facilitation methods to meet the diverse needs and backgrounds of group participants.

Curriculum Development

  • Collaborate with program staff to develop and refine the curriculum for father engagement group sessions.
  • Identify relevant topics and themes related to fatherhood, parenting, child development, communication, and relationship-building.
  • Create session outlines, activities, and materials that engage fathers and promote active learning.
  • Stay updated on current research and resources in the field of fatherhood and incorporate them into the group curriculum.

Relationship Building

  • Build rapport and establish trusting relationships with group participants, fostering a sense of community and support.
  • Encourage fathers to share their experiences, challenges, and successes in a non-judgmental and empathetic environment.
  • Provide individual guidance, support, and resources to fathers based on their unique needs and goals.
  • Connect fathers with appropriate community resources and services as needed.

Program Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Father Engagement Program team to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to services.
  • Coordinate with case managers, program coordinators, and other staff to align group sessions with individualized service plans.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss participant progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Provide feedback and insights to the program staff for program improvement and development.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of group attendance, participant feedback, and session evaluations.
  • Prepare and submit reports on group progress, outcomes, and participant feedback as required.
  • Assist in the collection of program data and evaluation efforts, ensuring the confidentiality and privacy of participants.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in group facilitation, preferably in a family support or fatherhood program.
  • In-depth knowledge of fatherhood issues, parenting education, and child development.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to engage participants, manage group dynamics, and encourage open dialogue.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive group atmosphere that respects diversity and cultural differences.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices and strategies for engaging fathers and enhancing father-child relationships.
  • Proficient in developing and adapting curricula for group sessions.
  • Understanding of community resources and the ability to connect participants with appropriate services.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Passion for empowering fathers and promoting positive family relationships.
