Position Description: Job Summary
The Community Engagement Manager in Uvalde will lead promotional and educational outreach efforts in
Uvalde and surrounding communities, targeting local organizations, educators, caregivers, and community
groups. Aligned with the mission of the Childrens Bereavement Center of South Texas (CBCST), this role will
adhere to CBCST policies and HIPAA regulations while actively representing CBCST in engagements with
community organizations such as Team Uvalde and the Chamber of Commerce. Responsibilities include
facilitating referrals to CBCST services for eligible community members, establishing a crucial link between the organization and the community to ensure that those in need receive the support and resources provided by CBCST.

Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
A. DIRECT RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Educational outreach, which will include representation to area organizations, educators, parents, and members of the faith-based community.
  • Facilitation of small peer support groups and grief workshops, working in tandem with professional therapists from CBCST-Uvalde.
  • Creating a schedule of healing and expressive arts activities at the center and in the community, including SMART and Art Saturdays, book readings, art activities, and cafecitos for caregivers, etc.
  • Organize annual day camps for children and teens in the community who have been affected by the losses incurred in their community, in their families, and at their schools.
  • Consult in the community to provide relevant resource information and referral of children and caregivers to CBCST-Uvalde or other appropriate services.
  • Active presence in the local school districts, including both public and private schools.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate tracking of data and submission of required reports.
  • Support the CBCST-Uvalde staff as assigned, requiring competent and confidential operation of the site during scheduled hours, including opening and closing of the center, answering phones, site security, and visitor logs.
  • Managing and tracking onsite donations and contents of CBCST-Uvalde storage facility and expressive arts room.
  • Arranging and leading tours of the HEART at the Uvalde center.
  • Represent the Center at third-party fundraising events and donation drives
  • Track volunteer constituent data and maintain volunteer shift schedules.
  • Proactively connect and build relationships with community members to ensure the Center has a robust database of volunteers and a steady flow of new donors
  • Cultivate and steward community volunteers with a goal of increasing engagement and inspiring monetary donations
  • Represent the Center at third-party fundraising events and donation drives
B. ADMINISTRATION
  • Establish goals and objectives that are in accordance with the organizations mission, policies, and strategic plan
  • Attend all staff and development meetings
  • Track all in-kind donations of meals and provide quarterly reports to Chief Financial Officer
C. COLLABORATION
  • Work with Program team and Uvalde Center Director to ensure all volunteer needs of the organization are being fulfilled
  • Assist with fundraising and special events when needed in Uvalde
  • Maintain open communication and positive/productive relationships within all internal and external relationships
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Masters preferred
  • Bachelors Degree in psychology, social work or human services related field
  • 3 years experience and associated training in grief support for children and families
  • Experience with presentations, workshops, and peer support group facilitation
  • Experience with data collection, computer software programs and other clerical duties.
  • Fluent in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible self-starter able to manage multiple concurrent projects while also being highly detail-oriented with an attention to quality
Physical Requirements
This position involves typical periods of sitting, walking, and clinical typing for documentation, with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, mobility within the office and the capacity to work with children of all ages. Clear verbal and written communication, along with basic reaching and dexterity skills, are essential for successful performance.
