POSITION: Victim Service Coordinator

FUNCTION: The Victim Service Coordinator is responsible for providing support services to child victims and their non-offending family members under the supervision of the executive director and in coordination with the multidisciplinary team.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greets child victims and their families/non-offending caregivers upon their arrival at the Children’s Alliance Center.

• Assists and educates non-offending caregivers with filling out intake paperwork, ensuring they understand the interview, investigation, and prosecution process, and explaining their rights as victims.

• Attends both pre and post-forensic interview staffing with the MDT to participate in information sharing with other MDT members.

• Assesses the families’ concrete needs and makes the necessary referrals to other social services.

• Provides crisis assessment and intervention, risk assessment and safety planning, and support for children and family members at all stages of involvement with the CAC.

• Ongoing advocacy consistently occurs for child victims and their non-offending family members by providing support and follow-up services through phone calls and letters throughout the life of the case. Support and follow-up are documented in the case tracking system.

• Assists families with gathering information for and filling out Crime Victims Compensation paperwork and follows up on the completion and filing of such paperwork.

• Maintains communication with MDT members regarding cases that are going to court to re-establish contact with families to engage them in the CAC’s courtroom preparation services.

• Speaks with non-offending caregivers about the availability of the CAC mental health services to all children, educates them about the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model for sexually abused children, and makes the referral for therapy if the family expresses a desire to engage in therapy. Explains that therapy services are free of charge at the CAC.

• Provide referrals for medical evaluations (if recommended by the MDT) and explain the process and location of the exam. Explains that medical evaluations are available to all clients regardless of ability to pay.

• Provide referrals for other social services and enter any follow-up information in our case-tracking system.

• Provides follow-up phone calls to families who access services at the CAC. Cases that were ruled out do not need follow-up phone calls. For all other cases, follow-up phone calls will take place two weeks, one month, three months, six months, one year, 18 months, and two years after the CAC interview. If the Victim Service Coordinator is assisting the family with CVC or referrals, the calls may be more frequent.

• Facilitate required background checks through the State Portal for all volunteers, board members, and CACPPC staff.

• Facilitates and distributes OMS to stakeholders to give feedback and suggestions regarding procedures and operations.

POSITION: Volunteer Coordinator

FUNCTION: Coordinate the Volunteer Program through volunteer recruitment, training, and management to meet agency needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain an agency culture that celebrates the contributions of volunteers; and cultivates volunteer participation as part of community partnership activities.

• Maintain and manage volunteer files

• Interview, screen, and orient prospective volunteers and interns. Ensure compliance with the Volunteer Management Policies, including providing all volunteers with task descriptions and volunteer policies.

• Recruit prospective volunteers and interns from diverse populations through local media, community presentations, and active participation in designated business, internship, and/or volunteer in Palo Pinto County.

• Organize and host celebrations for volunteers.

• Coordinate volunteer schedules and ensure that all volunteer hours are documented.

• Provide ongoing supervision to volunteers through training, retention, and evaluation activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Relevant work experience while working toward a bachelor’s degree will also be considered.

• Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and possess a current Texas Driver’s License or

SPECIAL ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Experience with diverse cultures, languages, and situations.

• Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.

• Experience working with children and families in crisis.

• Knowledge of and experience in working with child abuse issues.

• Ability to organize a variety of tasks and deal with a variety of people.

• Excellent telephone skills.

• Possess computer skills.

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities are highly desirable but not required.

• Ability to collaborate and interact well with Team members from various disciplines, such as law enforcement, medical, mental health, Child Protective Services, and prosecutors.

• Attends court trials as needed to provide support to the families that have accessed CAC services.
