Position Summary: Children’s Aid seeks a resourceful, creative professional with excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills to serve as Information Technology (IT) Project Manager to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Information Technology Department.

The IT Project Manager is responsible for driving key strategic initiatives across the Information Technology Division. The IT Project Manager must demonstrate the ability to build cross-functional relationships and own the initiative on a variety of organizational matters from strategy through operations. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate diplomatically and with the utmost discretion with all levels of the organization, from C-Suite to management to frontline staff.

Essential Duties:

The IT Project Manager role is composed of approximately 80% direct management activities, including but not limited to:

  • Providing leadership and effective project management oversight in all areas of staffing in the Information Technology Division, including administration and project completion.
  • Participation on behalf of the CIO regarding strategic and operational initiatives across Children’s Aid e.g., process improvement, business concerns as well as technological and strategic development.
  • Function as a value-adding thought partner to the CIO and senior IT leadership to provide candid, insightful feedback on critical and/or confidential decisions.
  • Identification of issues that should and should not be escalated to the CIO addressing the latter with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with C-Suite and departmental staff on continuous implementation of the designated IT strategy.
  • Provide support to top senior IT leadership, decision-makers, and managers.
  • Determine, in collaboration with the CIO and senior IT leadership, key performance indicators and how to measure team performance.
  • Participate in key strategic and operational meetings both internal and external to the organization on behalf of the CIO.

The following administrative activities comprise approximately 20% of the role:

  • Creation and ownership of CIO and Staff meeting minutes.
  • Drafting of CIO monthly reports to the CEO, Executive team, and the Children’s Aid Board of Directors and Sub-Committees.
  • Management of the CIO’s calendar and event schedule.
  • Some local NYC five-borough travel may be required occasionally.
  • In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, or related field with 3 or more years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of training, education, and similar working experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience in managing IT systems, healthcare, managed care, policy, and/or government projects.
  • PMP certification or enrollment in an approved certification program within 6 months of employment.

Key Competencies:

  • Technical background with an understanding and hands-on experience with technology equipment and business software tools.
  • Exceptional organization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team as well as independently. A high EQ is a must
  • Ability to forecast business implications of changes and new initiatives and provide recommendations.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and pivot quickly in response to changing priorities.
  • Very strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting quantitative research and data analysis.
  • Proven presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to express technical concepts effectively both verbally and in writing for business and technical audiences.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across a wide range of mediums.
  • Ability to work well with people of varying degrees of technical expertise.
  • Highly detail-oriented, resourceful, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Polished interpersonal skills with an emphasis on discretion and diplomacy.
  • Able to prioritize among competing demands and establish processes to assure timely, accurate, and effective completion of multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. PowerBI experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Asana and/or SysAid a plus
