Children Home Society is Hiring a Head Start/Early Head Start Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance (ERSEA) Specialist Near Trenton, NJ

Overview

The Head Start/Early Head Start ERSEA Specialist will provide input and solutions to develop and or revise program wide ERSEA Management System, Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze community assessment information and facilitate planning efforts to determine recruitment efforts and enrollment guidelines for potential infant, toddler and pre-k for all program options.
  • Assist in the development Develop and maintain a recruitment plan targeting all Head Start Eligible including special populations within geographic areas, to include public service announcements and notice on the Agency Face Book, Twitter, Community Events and Website as needed.
  • Determine eligibility based on funding requirements for enrollment into Head Start sites and options.
  • Maintain an updated list of sites and options operated by the Head Start Birth to Five program
  • Provide information, referral and coordinating efforts to link staff and client with appropriate child care resources.
  • In partnership with the Disabilities Coordinator, assure that the formal process for recruitment, selection, and enrollment, makes at least 10% of its enrollment opportunities available to children with disabilities.
  • Oversee processing applications for accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Child & Family Administration Services or related area preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience working with a Head Start or Early Head Start program as a part of ERSEA preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have an understanding and knowledge of the Head Start Standards, Child Care Licensing Standards, Child Plus, and components of a high quality early learning environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the leadership team, parents, children, center staff, and the public in a multi-ethnic environment
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the communities and must be able to effectively communicate with children and families of the community
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative partnerships and work on a team
  • Demonstrated track record working and supporting the needs of low-income families and young children
  • Flexibility to work outside of traditional work hours (evenings/weekends for special events)
