Job Overview

The Marketing and Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing a broad, comprehensive, and strategic marketing and communications plan designed to elevate the profile of RWCI in the community, promote friend and volunteer engagement, and encourage fundraising. More specifically, this position will be responsible for the creation and implementation of the digital, social, and brand-marketing strategy needed to support RWCI goals outlined in the Strategic Plan, Operating Project Plans, and Executive Team priorities.

The position is responsible for using RWCI's digital platforms to optimize content and drive users to engage with our brand through demonstrated expertise, cutting-edge practices, and technology proficiency. This includes possessing excellent writing skills, and the ability to multitask while maintaining a strong commitment to quality. This position will oversee social media plans and promotions, create and aggregate social content in support of strategic goals, and utilize tracking and analysis to yield highest results.

The position also is responsible for implementing proactive public relations activities, including developing and implementing Public Relations plans for highlighted RWCI events and programs. This position actively seeks out new opportunities for media coverage that expands RWCI's reputation, pitches story ideas, writes press releases and provides stakeholder support of social media, including P2P opportunities. This position will build positive relationships with members of the press, the RWCI internal community and external communities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages the creation, development, and implementation of our digital, social, and brand marketing long-term and short terms strategies.
  • Oversees marketing analytics and reporting to assess the effectiveness and ROI of all marketing investments, providing performance updates that tie into the marketing strategy.
  • Works with the Development team to develop a multi-prong marketing strategy to reach prospective and/or lapsed volunteers and donors while supporting the acquisition and retention of current volunteers and donors. This includes implementing digital fundraising campaigns, navigating event registration tools, and creating website landing pages.
  • Builds relationships with media and marketing vendors to support RWCI work, and fill in the gaps in onsite expertise that will achieve brand excellence and our marketing effectiveness.
  • Assists in maintaining the consistency of brand messaging and voice across all social media platforms and RWCI-branded items.
  • Assists in event planning and coordination of events.
  • Implements and oversees digital marketing initiatives to include but not limited to website and intranet administration and development, email development and management, SEM (PPC/ Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn Advertising), SEO, and CRM dashboards and reporting, to ensure the enhancement of the user experience across digital platforms.
  • Monitors and manages RWCI social media accounts.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or similar field required.
  • 2- 3 years of experience in digital marketing either in-house or at an advertising or media agency preferred
  • Ability to generate creative ideas.
  • Ambitious yet flexible self-starter who can work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • A desire to work hard, make a difference, and have fun doing it.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to juggle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Proficient utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud, YouTube or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience working across different functions related to digital marketing including PPC, SEM, SEO, social media, CRM and user experience.
  • Solid understanding of web metrics, digital analytics, and ability to generate, analyze and interpret data using Google products and other similar.
  • Understanding of HTML preferred.
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation and flexibility for off-site travel as needed.
