POSITION SUMMARY:
Teach and develop curriculum in support of the Children's Discovery Center's Discovery Camp program. Discovery Camp is a full day program that runs 8:30am-4:00pm during school breaks. Must be available June 3-August 16. Must be able to teach classes, write curriculum and engage with students in our exhibit galleries. While this is a seasonal position, there is an opportunity for permanent employment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and teach curriculum for the Center's Discovery Camp program.
· Teach classes with confident classroom management skills using positive language and a variety of teaching methods.
· Facilitate play in the Center’s exhibit galleries.
· Serve as first responder to minor and major accidents. Record, track and follow up on incidents and accidents, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· College degree in education or related field preferred.
· Minimum 1 year working with children
· Excellent organizational skills, conflict-resolution skills, oral and written communication skills.
· Team player who is comfortable working with children and their families, staff and volunteers.
· Ability to accept and adapt to change with ease.
· Ability to think and act quickly and logically.
· Demonstrated personal commitment to valuing life-long learning.
· Strong dedication to helping the Discovery Center fulfill its mission.
REQUIRED TO:
· Attend mandatory orientation and training sessions,
· Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate special events, exhibits and/or functions.
