Children At Play is a private, non-profit preschool that provides special educational and related therapy services for children with special needs, ages 2 ½- 5. We are seeking a part-time teacher assistant floater to work Tuesdays 8:00-2:30 and Thursdays 8:00-3:00. Children At Play is a 12-month program, including a 6-week summer session. The Preschool Teacher Assistant (TA) is a valuable and important member of the classroom team. The TA assists the Classroom Teacher, helps supervise and ensure the safety and well being of the students at all times, and is alert, sensitive and respectful of the needs and or/problems of the students as individuals and as a group.

The Teacher Assistant:

• Enjoys working with young children with special needs
• Assists with prepping daily activities under the direction of the teacher
• Is familiar with the educational goals for each student as written in the IEP (Individual Educational Plan)
• Works on developmentally appropriate skills with children individually and in small groups
• Assists with snack and lunch preparation, as well as assist children with eating and drinking during snack and lunch
• Accompanies and assists children with toilet training and bathroom skills as directed by the teacher
• Participates in the weekly educational staff meeting and full staff meeting
• Assists children to and from the bus or parent at arrival and dismissal
• Supervises and engages with children in the outdoor play yard and during summer water activities
• Interacts cooperatively and professionally with all staff
• Maintains confidentiality regarding student records and family information
• Completes required trainings including mandated reporter and sexual harassment in the workplace
• Takes initiative and contributes to the team regarding curriculum activities, behavioral plans and intervention
• Is familiar with and follows all school policies and procedures
• Maintains all CDC and DOH guidelines
• Is capable of following the class routine and maintaining a safe learning environment if the Teacher is absent

Hours: Tuesdays 8:00 - 2:30 and Thursdays 8:00 - 3:00
