Opticians assist patients in selecting the proper lenses and frames as prescribed by the doctor. This person is familiar with all frames carried by the practice and the various lens materials and options available. This person is also fully aware of every insurance the practice accepts and is able to explain insurance benefits to patients.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Assists patients with frame and lens selections, coating options, repairs and adjustments
2. Educates patients on lens and frame options in relation to lifestyle needs, trains patients on care of eyewear
3. Provides benefits counseling
4. Assists with frame board management; enters frames into inventory, helps choose frame lines
5. Establishes value packages and special offerings
6. Tracks key statistics: total eyewear sales, multiple pairs, dispensing ratios
7. Maintains the appearance of the dispensary, responsible for dispensing equipment and supply levels, organizes product literature
8. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
