Chichester School District is looking for an American Sign Langauge (ASL)Teacher to join our team for the 2023-2024 School Year!

We are looking for a candidate who will take pride in their work, providing a CREATIVE, FUN learning environment for our students. The American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher will teach both middle school and high school students the importance of and help develop their ASL skills, so that they can communicate more effectively in this language.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's is required.
  • Current PA American Sign Language PK-12 Certificate is required.
  • Determination to drive student achievement and set high expectations for all students
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees, students and parents.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR US:

  • Create lesson plans that promote language acquisition while addressing the needs of each student individually
  • Observe students’ progress and communicate with parents to ensure that they are meeting academic goals
  • Teach classes that include topics such as grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation
  • Design and implement activities that encourage students to use ASL in their everyday lives
  • Provide information about deaf culture to students and their families so they can better understand the language and the culture of the Deaf community
  • Prepare materials for each class session such as syllabi and handouts
  • Administer tests to evaluate students’ progress in their knowledge of ASL grammar rules, vocabulary skills, and overall mastery of the language

Location:  Chichester School District (Secondary/ Middle & High)

Reports to:  Building Principals

Salary Level: According to CEA salary scale, Starting $51,251

  • State Police Clearance (Act 34) - complete online and print your results immediately
  • Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) - effective 12/31/14, submit electronically
  • FBI Fingerprints (Act 114) - register & pay online, then go to the fingerprint location of your choice to be printed
  • School Health Record - includes physical & tb test from within a year
  • Act 24 (PDE Form 6004) - Arrest/Conviction Report
  • PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release -A separate form must be completed for: Current employer; and All former employers that were school entities; and All former employers where you were in a position that involved direct contact with children.
