Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and possess a strong background in medical office procedures and optical knowledge.
Duties:
- Assist ophthalmologists in providing patient care
- Perform preliminary eye function testing including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and other diagnostic tests
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks
- Utilize aseptic techniques to ensure a clean and safe environment
- Educate patients on eye care procedures and products
- Assist with pediatric eye care as needed
- Conduct vital sign measurements
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding practices
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques
- Understanding of optical procedures and equipment
- Experience in pediatric patient care is a plus
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- Basic physiology knowledge related to eye anatomy and function
- Proficiency in conducting vital signs measurements
- Sales experience beneficial for recommending eye care products
