Chicago Public Schools is Hiring a Miscellaneous Support Role "Sexual Health Program Strategist" Near Chicago, IL

The Office of Student Health and Wellness (OSHW) aims to eliminate health-related barriers to learning and advance child health equity in Chicago. CPS is committed to addressing barriers to student health and wellness and providing education, programs, and activities that help improve the quality of life for students attending our schools. We also strive to decrease health disparities within the district through the coordination of school health programs and student health services.
Job Summary:
This part-time/temporary position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 10 hours a week for an anticipated period of 1 year beginning 01/29/24 and ending 01/29/2025. Due to the part-time/temporary nature of this work, this is not a benefit-eligible position. This role will report to the Director of Health Promotion.
The part-time/temporary Miscellaneous Support Role will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Sexual Health Education Program strategy development
  • Sexual Health Education curriculum and implementation plans
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the part-time/temporary Miscellaneous Support Role must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 5 years of Public Health experience
  • Sexual Health Education is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and experience with sexual health education, health education, and reproductive health strategies used within CPS and nationally.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, while meeting regular deliverables and engaging in continuous improvement
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups of professionals across multiple departments and organizations to achieve unified, consistent practices
  • Ability to collect, analyze and present data to drive innovation and improvement required
  • Cultural competency and ability to navigate and promote sensitivity with issues of race and equity
  • Strong communication skills (speaking - including presentations - listening, and writing)
  • Leadership and team building skills, e.g. ability to develop high-performing teams united around a clear vision for serving schools and achieving student success
  • Experience in project management concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Must be proficient with the use of computers and software including but not limited to Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with the management of federal grants and reporting preferred.
  • Experience working with urban public schools preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and adolescent populations preferred.
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
  • Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 - Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. "Up-to-date" on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
