The Office of Student Health and Wellness (OSHW) aims to eliminate health-related barriers to learning and advance health equity in Chicago. CPS is committed to addressing barriers to student health and wellness and providing education, programs, and activities that help improve the quality of life for students attending our schools as well as strive to decrease health disparities within the district through the coordination of school health programs and student health services.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, the Clinical Operations Coordinator will be a member of the OSHW business operations team and be responsible for coordinating supplies and operations of disease response efforts for OSHW.
The Clinical Operations Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
  • Coordinate programs that support response to communicable disease and chronic condition management in schools, included but not limited to stock medications, clinical supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Responsible for implementing clinical supply programs in schools, including school nursing supplies. .
  • Coordinate cross-departmental efforts for distribution and maintenance of clinical supplies in schools and in CPS maintained storage units.
  • Supports data collection, data analysis, and identifies areas of improvement to improve efficiency of ordering, distributing, and storing supplies.
  • Serves as support with relevant vendors to ensure quality of supplies, timeliness of delivery, and all contract expectations are met.
  • Serves as point of contact for any disease response supply challenges or questions from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides administrative support to OSHW business operations, including data entry, document management, and inventory management.
  • Respond to any concerns shared by individual schools and make recommendations for program modifications as necessary.
  • Partners with the Communications team to create and disseminate collateral and other communications to ensure high functioning, streamlined clinical operations programs and supplies across the district.
  • Stay up to date with relevant policies and public health guidance related to clinical supplies in schools.
  • Other duties as assigned.
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Clinical Operations Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Master's degree preferred in a relevant field
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public health, marketing, and/or community education in the healthcare industry, or clinical operations experience; with increasing levels of responsibility preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and drive multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of a team
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills with a focus on driving results.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills in order to meet continuous critical deadlines
  • Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills (speaking, writing, and listening)
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with a variety of constituent groups, including external partners, to ensure the entire system operates in the most effective manner possible to support schools and principals
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite of tools. (e.g. Word, Excel) and the Google Suite (e.g. Google Docs, Google Sheets)
  • An unyielding commitment to continuous improvement and ability to use multiple sources of data to inform short and long-term decisions
  • Knowledge of operations and inventory management.
  • Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois
  • Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 - Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. "Up-to-date" on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
