CHICAGO MARITIME ARTS CENTER is Hiring a Boating Skills Instructor Near Chicago, IL

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Boating Skills Instructor to join our roster of instructors in Chicago. You should have a deep love of boating and kids and will be responsible for teaching youth (from 8 year olds to 18) the fundamentals of boating safety, navigation, and watercraft handling. The instructor should promote water safety awareness and foster responsible behavior among young participants as they participate in boating activities. This role also includes designing activities that are fun, collaborative, and hands-on to keep the youth engaged and interested and to support a variety of learning styles and needs..

These classes are provided through summer workshops, after school programs during the school year, and as special field trips or orientations. We also offer a variety of formats, ranging from 2-hour sessions, 1 or 2-day workshops, or a more intensive 2-week program with daily instruction.

As a Boating Skills Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe and enjoyable learning environment while imparting essential boating knowledge and skills to young learners. You’ll also introduce kids to the basics of marine ecology. You’ll also be responsible for creating a fun and engaging environment with lessons & activities that encourage teamwork and collaboration, with support for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Technology) learning.

We serve all youth in the city, but also prioritize on the South and West sides of the city where youth have traditionally had less access to non-traditional sports and recreational activities. Candidates must have interest, experience and/or enthusiasm for working with and supporting underserved youth from diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds.

Responsibilities:
